WrongThese are just a few of the pictures we went and took that we thought were 'wrong' photos.

In our first lesson we were shown this picture. It's called 'WRONG', by John Baldessari. It shows a tall man standing on the opposite side of the street to the photographer. He is standing in front of a palm tree which look as if its growing out of his head. This is obviously badly composed photograph. He asked us what we thought was wrong with this picture or if we had any ideas why it was called wrong. We thought of many things that could be wrong with this photograph, for example; "He was on the opposite side of the road to the person taking the photo." "The lighting/quality is really bad." "He is standing right in front of a tree." "Maybe there is nothing wrong with the picture and the only reason its called wrong is to make people think of ways it could be wrong." Mr Nicholls asked us to use iPads to take as many 'wrong' pictures as possible. We had to think about what a 'wrong' picture might be. |
The photographer that took this picture was John Baldessari. John is an American artist. Initially he was a printer, in mid 1960's he started to incorporate photography and texts into his canvases. His art has been featured in more than 200 solo exhibitions in the U.S. and Europe. He has produced lots of work that show clear images that are within the boundaries of the work of art.
